Obituary of John Martar

John W. “Joe” Martar, 72, of Eudora, Arkansas passed away at his home Friday, July 21, 2017.  Joe was born July 10, 1945 in Wilmot, Arkansas to the late John Wesley & Bessie Mae Nowlen Martar Sr.  He was the owner & founder of Martar Construction in Lake Village, Arkansas.  He was a member of Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church.  He loved having cook-outs, spending time with his family whom he loved dearly.  His other passions included hunting and cheering on his beloved Arkansas Razorbacks.

Joe was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; R.L., Hewie, John, Carl, and Thomas Martar and one sister, Marteel Sammons. 

Joe is survived by his wife of over 50 years, Linda Dalton Martar of Eudora, Arkansas, three sons, David Martar and his wife, Andie, of Lake Village, Arkansas, Jeff Martar of Eudora, Arkansas, and Jason Martar and his wife, Amber, of Greenville, Mississippi, a daughter, Jamie Lynn Martar Jones and her husband, Dusty, of Little Rock, Arkansas; two brothers, Bill Martar of Eudora, Arkansas and Gene Martar and his wife, Vaunda of Kilbourne, Louisiana, a sister, Elizabeth “Liz” Smith and her husband, Harold “Cracker” of Kilbourne, Louisiana; nine grandchildren, Nathan Martar, Julia Clare Martar, Jason Zane Martar, Jack Martar, Emma Kate Jones, Shelby Marie O’Fallon, Bailey Palmer, Aiden Pierce, and Jayce Formigoni, and one great-grandchild, River Jakob Webb, and a host of family, friends, and extended family that loved him and will miss him dearly.

Pallbearers are Jimmy “Lucky” Davis, Stephen Beatty, Kris Miller, Jonathan Lightfoot, Keith Fabick, and Robin Dunnahoe.  Honorary pallbearers are Joe James, Lawrence Pambianchi, Britt Pierce, Jimmy Popejoy, Joseph “Bebo” Peacock, and Michael Reed.

Visitation will be from 5-8pm on Monday, July 24, 2017 at Bishop-King Funeral Home in Lake Village, Arkansas.  Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10am at Bishop-King Funeral Home Chapel in Lake Village, Arkansas with internment to follow in Mt. Carmel Cemetery in Eudora, Arkansas.
