Roy Andrew West, aged 81 of Pontotoc, MS, formerly of Eudora, AR, passed away Wednesday, April 7, 2021, at his home. He was born September 4, 1939, in Monroe County, Arkansas to the late Arthur Lee and Minnie Alice (Ates) West. He is preceded in death by parents, twin sons, Michael Ray and Anthony Todd West, two grandsons, Steven David and Jacob Daniel West, two brothers, Leon and Stanley West, and one sister, Peggy Potts. Roy proudly served his country in the Navy for six years. After returning home, he married the mother of his children, Marilyn. Until his retirement, he worked in the agricultural, farm equipment repair field. Roy was always a very avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and even just sitting on his porch. Even to the point of being a long-time member of the Caldwell Hunting Camp in the Hamburg Hills. Roy attended New Hope Baptist Church and was of the Baptist faith. Roy is survived by his wife, Frances Blansett West, of the home, one son, Steven West, and wife, Nora, one daughter, Stephanie Nichols, and husband, Terry. Two grandsons, Michael Woodall and Brianna, and Chandler Nichols, One granddaughter, Sara West, one great-grandson, Gavin Woodall, a brother, Woodie West, and wife, Barbara. Roy was also survived by a step-daughter, Becky Wright who spent countless hours helping to care for and loved him over the last several years, and a step-great grandson, Hunter Day who spent all the time he could with him. Roy is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, and many other family and friends. Visitation will be Saturday, April 10, 2021, from 1:00 to 2:00 pm with services to follow at Northside Baptist Church in Eudora, Arkansas. Burial will follow at Mount Carmel Cemetery with Bro. James Kitchens officiating. Pallbearers will be Darrell Blansett, Chris Stauddy, Elmer Cossey, Patrick Welch, Robin West, and Roy "Bubba" Kelley.
