Obituary of Elliot Bawcom

Elliot "Dane" Bawcom, 43, of Montrose, AR, died Wednesday, October 31, 2018 at JRMC in Pine Bluff, AR. Dane was born February 28, 1975 in Dermott, AR. He is the son of Larry and Linda Bawcom of Montrose and Debbie Whitaker of Lake Village.

Dane is preceeded in death by his wife Dawn, whom he loved dearly. He is also preceded in death by his grandparents, who impacted his life greatly.

Dane grew up working at his grandfather’s grocery store, Portland IGA, in Portland, Arkansas. Dane always had a big smile on his face and was a joy to be around. He was an avid New Orleans Saints fan. Dane was a loyal friend and a loving, faithful husband.  Dane struggled with addiction for many years, but found freedom from his addiction through Jesus Christ.  Dane was committed to serving at John 3:16 ministries in Charlotte, Arkansas for many years. Through his work and service at John 3:16, he was able to help many men find the same freedom through Jesus Christ as an instructor, mentor, and teacher there. He was also the head of catering at John 3:16 ministries.  

He is survived by his parents, three sisters, Jillian Bawcom (Bubba) Lemons of McGehee, Buffie Holton of Irving, TX, Shelly Baldwin of Alabama, and one brother, Brian Rush of Monticello, and a host of family and friends.  

John 3:16 states, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son that whosoever believes in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life.”  Dane will be remembered as one who believed wholeheartedly in the Son of the Living God, Jesus the Christ.

A memorial service will be held Friday November 2, 2018 at 1:30 p.m. at Ark of Faith, Monticello, AR. Arrangements are by Bishop-King Funeral Home of Lake Village, Arkansas.
