Obituary for Janice Combs Bariola Janice Combs Bariola, 76, of Lake Providence, LA, passed peacefully from this life on March 12, 2020 in Baton Rouge, LA with her children at her bedside. She began life on January 31, 1944 in Fayetteville, AR the only child of Virginia Mae Harp Combs and Albert Paul Combs, both of whom predeceased her. Also preceding her in death were her husband, Julius Bariola, Jr. and her grandparents, Don F. And Myrl Harp of Springdale, AR, and William and Ada Combs of Fayetteville, AR. Surviving Janice are her beloved children, Stephen Bariola and wife Judie of Carlisle, AR, Philip Bariola and wife Dara of Madison, MS, and Julia Bariola Fields and husband Ronald of Baton Rouge, LA. Her grandchildren are Andrea Polk and husband Alan, Virginia Cook and husband Kendall, Brantley Bariola, Mary Philip Bariola, Adam Fields and Alex Fields. Her much loved great grandchildren are Avaley and Ainsley Polk. Janice also leaves behind her faithful companion, Belle, a beautiful yellow Labrador Retriever. Her last words were how much she loved her children and her declaration that they were her greatest accomplishment! As an only child, Janice especially enjoyed her relationships with her surviving in-laws: Madeline Bariola, Juander Bariola, Louise Farris and husband Anthony, Beth White, Tony Bariola, Bonnie Bariola, Mary McKeown and Lavern Bariola, along with numerous nieces and nephews. Family gatherings were greatly treasured, and she especially looked forward to Sunday lunches in Lake Village, AR, which were usually followed by a lively domino game called Train. Other hobbies included gardening, like her mother and husband, but her favorite hobby was traveling. Especially notable were the many cruises she took with her family. She was a member of a scrapbooking club called the Paper Dolls where she was affectionately called Baby Doll. She also enjoyed membership in the Red Hat Society and spent 26 years as a Louisiana Cotton Museum board member. Janice graduated Fayetteville High School in 1962 and attended the University of Arkansas until she married in 1965 and moved to Lake Providence. She began a 45 year banking career June 24, 1968 and retired December 31, 2013. Her employment included Bank of Dixie, Louisiana Delta Bank and Delta Bank, all located in the same building in Lake Providence. Visitation will be Friday, August 28, 2020 at 1:00 pm with a service following at 2:00 pm at the First United Methodist Church in Lake Providence, LA. Internment will be at 4:00 pm at Saint Isidore Catholic Cemetery in Lake Village, AR under the direction of Bishop King Funeral Home. Pallbearers are her grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the following organizations: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, American Lung Association or Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
